Similar to ATVs, snowmobiles use thumb and finger throttle controls and are customized with brush and knuckle guards to protect the vehicle and rider. For very cold conditions, heated grips and seats may be used as add-on accessories.
Common engines in snowmobiles are parallel twins and inline types. They range from 120cc to 1000cc in size. Examples of manufacturers that make snowmobiles and snowmachines are Ski-Doo, Arctic Cat, BRP, Can-AM, Polaris, Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha.
